Indonesia has got to be one of my all time favourite countries in the world - it's got an incredibly diverse multicultural, ethnic and religious history - fantastic buildings from the world renowned Borobudur to tremendous tribal houses. The scenery is unrivalled - a skyline marked with silouettes of smoking volcanoes, terraced rice paddies everywhere and a huge number of pristine white beaches. Mix in a great cuisine and very friendly people and it is an ideal travel destination - OK the place occasionally erupts into mass violence - but that just adds a little spice. I spent two great years there, living in Bandung in Java. During this time I travelled widely but still only managed to scratch the surface. These pages only feature photos from four of the thousands of islands that make up the world's largest archipeligo, namely Java, Sumatra, Sumba and Sulawesi, but they will give you a taster of what the wilder parts of Indonesia have to offer - click on the map below and - enjoy!
